Paris-based visual artist Eva Jospin was Ruinart’s artist of choice for the 2023 edition of its Carte Blanche project. Inspired by the Champagne region’s richness, Jospin has created a collection case around a Jeroboam of Blanc de Blancs.
Champagne Maison Ruinart invited Eva Jospin as its Carte Blanche artist for 2023 to reinterpret the house’s heritage and terroir. The visual artist has transformed the collection case containing Jeroboam of the house’s emblematic Blanc de Blancs.
Enclosed by two custom-made leather straps, the wooden coffret reveals a miniature chalk quarry – a nod to the Maison’s chalk pits turned cellars – sculpted in layers of cardboard. The cardboard is cut to hug the curves of the bottle, alluding to champagne making practices and the fermentation that takes place in the darkness.
Each of the 25 available 3-liter bottles is signed and numbered, and will be presented at the art fairs with which Ruinart has partnered.
Jospin also created an art installation mainly made of cardboard dubbed PROMENADE(S). Inspired by the vineyards while visiting Maison Ruinart in Reims, the intricate sculptural landscape is intended to evoke the underground worlds of the chalk pits, vineyards, terroir and biodiversity.
Ruinart x Eva Jospin Blanc de Blancs is priced at €3,500.
